Dear Church of the Atonement,

 

On Sunday, January 31, at 12:30 pm, Atonement will hold its Annual Meeting. This year, the meeting will be on Zoom. You can find the links to the meeting in the weekly e-newsletter. All are welcome!

 

At our annual meeting, we will be receiving reports from the Rector and Wardens, the final financial reports from 2020, and the 2021 budget. We will also be electing wardens, vestry members, and delegates to diocesan convention, as well as voting on the proposed parish by-laws. At this time, we will not be accepting any amendments to these by-laws or to the slates of nominees.

 

Any member in good standing at Atonement may participate in the voting. A member in good standing is defined in our diocesan canons as being those who are at least 16 years of age, regularly attend worship, are recognized as a member by the Rector and one or both Wardens, are known to the Treasurer because of their financial contributions to the parish during the six months prior to the meeting, and declare their willingness to conform to the Doctrine, Discipline, and Worship of the Church.

 

The financial reports, budget, and reports from ministry leaders will be sent to you next week for your consideration.

 

Below, you will find links to the items that will require a vote, including:

• The slate for the election of wardens, vestry members, and parish delegates to diocesan convention; and,

• The proposed Atonement by-laws.

 

You will also find three additional documents:

• The Annual Meeting Report;

• A Charter for the Nominations Committee; and,

• An Open Meetings Resolution.

 

These two items have been approved by the vestry to address some of the concerns that were raised at our by-laws conversation in early December. We will be discussing these documents and their relationship to the by-laws at the annual meeting.

 

At the conclusion of the meeting, we will also take some time for questions and conversation. Please do mark this date on your calendar, and I look forward to seeing you there.
